Youngsters from Arlparra Sport and Recreation attended a two-day day golf camp at Alice Springs Golf Course this month.
Under the guidance of club pro Steve Tieck, eight kids from the remote community were given golf lessons on the Alice Springs driving range from local and interstate coaches.
Youth Team Leader Andrew Rae said the youngsters (four boys and four girls, aged 8-11) were eager to learn and were well above average for their age group.
“This was a great success,” said Andrew, who looked after the children along with Sport and Recreation Officer Clayton Daniels and Sasha Dinnie, volunteer and mentor for the girls.
“The kid’s behaviour was outstanding. They gave their 100 per cent attention and felt that they were part of something really big. We look forward to next year’s camp.”
