The Tennant Creek Swimming Pool will be closed for much-needed repairs and maintenance from today until further notice.
After intermittent closures this year due to maintenance issues, Barkly Regional Council decided at its Special Ordinary Meeting yesterday to shut the gates to rectify the issue.
Mayor Jeffrey McLaughlin said it was the perfect time to investigate issues and conduct maintenance during the colder months, especially when less than 20 residents had used the facility for the month of May.
He said it also would prevent further issues backing up which could lead to more closures during the hot summer months.
“Council will be monitoring the progress of repairs and maintenance to ensure a timely reopening ahead of spring where the pool becomes a vital part of recreation for all ages in the town,” said Mayor McLaughlin.
