Members of the community are being invited to have their say on the Purkiss Reserve Master Plan.

Posted: Friday, 5 February 2016

Public consultation is being undertaken by Barkly Regional Council and the Purkiss Reserve Committee to allow interested members of the community to express their views on Draft 2 of the Purkiss Reserve Master Plan.
Council received $20,000 to engage Elton Consulting in conjunction with Bennett Design Architect to deliver a master plan on the future use and development of Purkiss Reserve, an important public space approximately 9.6 ha.
The space is a critical amenity for Tennant Creek and provides cultural sporting entertainment and facilities for healthy lifestyles of all ages. It is the only space of this kind where people can access open green space to walk and exercise. It also brings great visual relief to town which is placed in what can be a harsh environment.
The Purkiss Reserve Committee endorsed Draft 2 of the Master Plan at a meeting on 2 February 2016 with the following points to be included.
* CP3 will be repositioned to be along the southern fence line, backing on to the pol fence, with a service access road into the pool pump house.
* That a pedestrian access gate will be included on the eastern side to allow easier access into PA1 playground.
* That SP (Second oval) be noted as a multi-purpose, line-marked open oval.

Send all public submissions to ceo@barkly.nt.gov.au, OR post to PO Box 821, Tennant Creek NT 0861 or hand into reception at 41 Peko Road.
Comments from the public are open until COB on Tuesday, 29 February.
The Purkiss Reserve Committee will review all public submissions at a special meeting on 4 March and prepare the final draft for the 17 March Council meeting.
