** BWC - Barkly Work Camp

The Youth Justice Facility Working Group has identified three suitable sites which are subject of this online survey.

The intent of the Youth Justice Facility is to provide stable, safe and supervised accommodation for young people who have been sentenced to supervision, a diversion program, are on bail, or potentially who are participating in the Back on Track program. The Youth Justice Facility is not a detention centre and will not be used for that purpose.

The following sites were identified through the Working Group consulting with the Barkly Regional Council, Patta Aboriginal Corporation and the Department of Infrastructure, Planning and Logistics.

The pros and cons of each site represent the broad views and comments that came from Working Group meetings and site visits.

Before following the link to the survey please carefully consider the following information in regards to each of the proposed sites.

The online survey will close on the 21st of October 2019.

The new Youth Justice Facility in Tennant Creek is one of the 28 initiatives of the Barkly Regional Deal.

The lead agency for this project is the Northern Territory Government, Territory Families.

The results of this survey are intended to help inform discussion in the Working Group and are not definitive on the final site location.

For more information about the Youth Justice Facility please contact Council reception on (08) 8962 0000 or email Tim.Candler@barkly.nt.gov.au

Through the Barkly Regional Deal, a new approach to collaborating with community has been being established. Working Groups provide an interface where community members and stakeholders can provide feedback and recommendations to the interim Barkly Regional Governance Table about certain aspects of the 28 priority initiatives.

The interim Barkly Regional Governance Table has responsibility to oversight delivery of the Deal and includes membership from the three tiers of government, Aboriginal leaders, local business leaders, non-government organisations, young people and the other community stakeholders.

Information from the Working Groups will be provided back to the interim Barkly Regional Governance Table which will then lead development and implementation of the initiatives under the Deal.

Further information about the Barkly Regional Deal can be found online at www.regional.gov.au/regional/d...
