Public Library

The Tennant Creek Public Library is a free service provided by the Barkly Regional Council. Residents and visitors to Tennant Creek are welcome to make use of the library services

Monday to Friday 9am - 12pm
1pm - 4.30pm
Saturday 9am - 12pm
Sunday CLOSED
Public Holidays CLOSED

The library is a central hub for community members and travelers. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing environment to read, catch up on the news, study or bring the kids in for some fun in the playroom.

What can I borrow?
The library contains a variety of audio books, paperback books, CD's & DVD's, just to name a few items.

The library has a loan limit of 15 items for permanent members.

What is required to become a member?
Please speak with our friendly library staff for information on becoming a member of our library.
You will need an ID and something that guarantees you live in Tennant Creek - For example a rates notice.

How long can I loan an item for?

Books 6 weeks
DVDs 7 Days
OTHER 6 Weeks
Reference CANNOT BE LOANED

Do you have internet access?
The library currently does not have any public internet access at this time.
This is being addressed with our tech team. We apologise for the inconvenience.

The library offers internet access to members of the public at the rate of:

60mins = $7.50

Do you have computer access?

The library currently does not have any computer access at this time.
This is being addressed with our tech team. We apologise for the inconvenience.

You may use one of our computers, or purchase a Wi-Fi Ticket.

Permanent members access this free of charge. 

Where do I find the Library?
We're located at 41 Peko Rd, just off the highway (Paterson St) next to the Council Chambers. Look for the Pyramid Building on Peko Road.
